Fun Facts About Argentium
In addition to making beautiful stackable jewelry, Scott and I share a mission: to educate the world about our metal of choice, Argentium silver.
We didn't just arbitrarily choose a metal for our line with a unique name. Nor did we think it would be cool to use a fancy silver instead of standard sterling. We did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that Argentium silver would be the ideal choice for our line of stackable bangles and bands. And here's why:
1. It's whiter and brighter than standard sterling silver. For centuries, sterling silver has been made by combining silver and copper. In addition to these elements, Argentium's patented formula contains another ingredient that creates a self-healing, protective layer on the surface that slows the onset of tarnishing. Argentium has been formulated to be highly resistant to the effects of tarnishing agents such as pollution, perspiration, and UV light. And it's so naturally white that it doesn't require plating, like so many other alloys out there that are rhodium plated to appear whiter than they really are. For the reasons, your STACKED New York Argentium bangles and bands will stay looking whiter and brighter for far longer than standard sterling silver—just as any modern heirloom should.
2. It's purer than standard sterling silver. While sterling contains 92.5% silver, Argentium contains a minimum of 93.5% silver. Higher Purity = Greater Value.
3. It's a green metal. In response to demand for the preservation of our natural environment and natural resources, Argentium is always made from 100% recycled silver. And that makes us feel good!
4. It's good for your skin. If you've had problems wearing silver or other white metals before, you should be safe with Argentium. It's hypoallergenic and 100% nickel-free—so your skin will thank you!
